Why this week matters
Water left in an evaporative cooler expands when it freezes. It doesn't drain itself, and it doesn't wait for you to be ready.
The pan is the heaviest, most expensive part of the cooler. Ice in a full pan is how it splits.
The thin supply line is the first thing to fail — it freezes fast and leaks every time the valve opens.
Frozen water around the pump ends its life early, and freezing pads go brittle and shred next summer.
The spider tube cracks when it freezes — and you won't find out until the first hot week of next July.
A $150 shutdown costs less than any single one of those repairs. If your furnace hasn't been looked at yet either, doing both in one visit is $200.

Who's coming to your house
Aurora HVAC Pros is a family-owned shop. Justin started in 2011 working for his father's family HVAC company — learning the trade the slow way, one furnace and one swamp cooler at a time — and then went out on his own here in Aurora.
That's why the phone gets answered by the person who will actually be at your door. No call center, no rotating technicians, no sales visit at the end of the job.
Aurora housing skews 1970s–80s, which is right when evaporative coolers and mid-life furnaces showed up here. Both are the systems we see every week.
Freeze-week questions
$150 flat, and it includes draining the pan and reservoir, shutting off and draining the water supply line, and covering the unit for winter. If you book your furnace service for the same visit, the two together are $200.
Water left in the pan, the supply line or the distribution tube expands as it freezes. That's how reservoirs crack, supply lines split, and pumps and pads get ruined. Any one of those repairs costs more than the $150 shutdown — and you usually don't find out until spring.
Once a year, yes. We clean and inspect the burners, check the ignition and flame sensor, test the filter, blower and thermostat through a full cycle, and verify the gas pressure is set for our 5,471 ft elevation. That's the check that catches a small problem while it's still a small problem.
Call or text (303) 525-7414. The first freeze of the season is always the busiest week of the fall, so text early in the day and we'll tell you honestly what's open.
Aurora is home base, and we also work in Centennial, Denver and Parker. There's a ZIP checker above that tells you whether your address is in our regular area or right on the edge of it.
$89 flat for the trip and the diagnosis. Once we've found the problem you get a flat repair price before any work starts — no hidden labor fees, and nothing happens without your OK.
Yes — 10% off any regular service, including the $89 repair call, for seniors 65+, active military, veterans and first responders. Mention it when you book. It doesn't combine with the $200 two-service visit; we'll use whichever saves you more.
The owner. Aurora HVAC Pros is family-owned, NATE certified, and has been working on Aurora homes since 2011. You call or text one number and talk to the same person who does the work — no call center in between.
